AAP MLA Surinder Singh booked for allegedly beating civic worker – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Surinder Singh from Delhi Cantonment has been booked for allegedly manhandling and beating a worker of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened at 6.30 pm close to the Race Course Road signal where some NDMC employees were conducting routine checks, according to the police.
Vijay Singh, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), New Delhi district, said an NDMC worker asked a vegetable vendor, Rinkoo, not to park his cart near the signal. All of a sudden, Surinder Singh intervened and started arguing with the civic workers. A fight started, during which Surinder’s driver and employee beat up the NDMC worker.
The police has registered a case against 3 people ? Surinder Singh, his driver and employee ? at Tughlaq Road police station under sections 506, 511, 332, 353, 367, 186 , 34 of the IPC and under section 3(10) of the SC/ST Act.
However, Singh has claimed that neither he abused the NDMC worker, nor did his employee and driver beta him. He asserted that NDMC workers were arguing and thrashing the vegetable vendor, and he had tried to stop them.
