Dismal ratings for the Hollywood Film Awards

Despite being a fine place to catch some classic Johnny Depp strangeness, the first-ever broadcast of the Hollywood Film Awards was far from a ratings success.

According to The Wrap, the CBS broadcast averaged a 0.5 rating/2 share in the all-important 18-49 year demographic — tying with the CW for fourth place behind the other broadcast networks. It fared slightly better in total viewers, racking up 3.7 million for the night, behind ABC and NBC.

Although Friday’s ceremony was the first to be broadcast, the Hollywood Film Awards have been around since 1997—and once famously awarded Django Unchained its screenplay award before the movie was even finished.
