The gulf nation’s win gave rise to allegations that they had bought the Cup.
On Sunday, Qatar denied the charges that a former influential Qatari football official Mohamed bin Hammam paid more than 5 million dollar to get support for its bid to host the football World Cup scheduled for 2022.
Qatar’s WC2022 organizing committee said in a statement, “We vehemently deny all e allegations of wrongdoing. We say again Mohamed Bin Hammam played no official or unofficial role in Qatar’s 2022 Bid Committee.”
According to SBS’s former head of sport, Dominic Galati, what is most important is the decision that FIFA takes, taking into consideration the information it has received from whistleblowers.
Dominic Galati further stated, “FIFA, this time will make a decision to show that it is the power of football in the world and I’m pretty sure they’re going to come down pretty hard on Qatar”.
