General Education Minister John Phiri Has Challenge Teachers Over Poor Results


Minister of General Education John Phiri has challenged teachers in the northwestern province to show cause why they should continue drawing salaries from government following a string of unacceptable results in the region.

Dr Phiri says head teachers should explain why they should continue charging He said the morale of parents who are paying dearly for their children has dampened following the continued dismal performance at all the examination grades in the region.

Dr Phiri was speaking during the provincial indaba which was called to find solutions to the poor performance of children in the region.

And Construction of the first ever boarding secondary school in the newly created Nsama District, Northern Province, has advanced.

The school has over 20 staff houses, 20 classrooms, clinics, and a school hall among others.

Meanwhile, the new district has further seen the construction of the District Administration block which will accommodate all Government departments under one roof.

And at least 10 Staff houses for police officers in the new district have been roofed while 10 Council houses are expected to be occupied anytime soon.
