The former Miss Africa queen and Travelogue presenter, Peelo Mookodi could soon land herself a television gig with South Africa’s SABC 3 after she was recently shortlisted on the channel’s #PresenterSearchOn3 initiative. The Presenter Search on 3 is a spotlight searching for television presenters for various shows on SABC3.
“You’re not just auditioning to host a TV show; we are looking for brand ambassadors that embody the spirit of SABC3 as a channel that shines the spotlight on our progress and aspirations. If you have what it takes, then the opportunities are endless and the stage is yours,” read a communique from the administrators.
“Television presenting is not just about the fame, it’s a career that demands more than looks on fleek and adoring social media fans! Life in the spotlight will not only be filled with glamour, travel, the potential winners need to reflect the dynamic spirit of South Africa with a go-getter attitude that makes them own any room they walk into. They should be unapologetic about who they are, proud of their background and be able to represent South Africa on any stage be it local, regional or international.”
The Ramotswa born lass becomes the second Motswana to come closer to joining the SABC 3 payroll after Kaone Kario was eliminated in the Top Billing presenter search in the top 10 in 2010 which was subsequently clinched by Simba Mhere (MHSRIP). Peelo’s rise to stardom comes after being selected to be among the top 10 finalists. Speaking to #Botswanaunplugged from Cape Town where she continues to vie for the coveted spot against other finalists, Peelo said she has all that it takes to win it.
“I am very happy to be in the Top 10. I knew I would go far the day I auditioned in April, but it’s still such an amazing feeling to still be involved in the competition. I am authentic and offer something completely different from what the rest offer. I am inspired by women who may be too scared to go after their dreams. They have shown me that all the big steps I take, motivate them to take all their small steps. There won’t be any voting however prayers will be enough to land this gig,” she giggled.
