Police bust grow-op and ‘chop shop’ in Abbotsford

A tip to police officers who were conducting traffic enforcement on Sunday has led to the bust of a grow-op and “chop shop” in Abbotsford.

Const. Ian MacDonald said a person approached officers who were on Livingstone Avenue at about noon and indicated that he or she had seen someone with a gun at a home in the area.

MacDonald said police went to the home – located on Livingstone Avenue just south of Maclure Road– and obtained search warrants that led to them finding a grow-op and a “rather extensive chop shop” consisting of several stolen and torn-apart vehicles on the large property.

Also found were a couple of firearms.

MacDonald said details are not yet available on the size of the grow-op, the number and types of weapons found, and the quantity and types of vehicles.

Two men and a woman were detained, and MacDonald said police are still trying to determine their connection to the property and the criminal activities taking place on it.

The property was still blocked off on Tuesday afternoon with police tape and driveway barricades reading “Restricted area. Keep out.”

MacDonald said the Abbotsford Police Department will release more information when it’s available.
