President Joyce Banda launches PP campaign in the North


After successfully launching Peoples’ Party (PP) manifesto in the Central Region at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, President Dr. Joyce Banda Sunday took the launch to the Northern Region at Mzuzu Stadium.

Thousands of people braved the chilly weather that was characterized by rains especially in the morning hours to witness the launch.

The launch gave the city a new face as it was decorated with orange cloth starting from Shoprite roundabout to Mzuzu High Court roundabout up to the road that leads to Mzuzu Stadium.

President Banda and his youthful runningmate, Sostern Gwenge, arrived exactly at 13:29 hours at Mzuzu Stadium aboard an open roof vehicle decorated with orange clothes.

Speaking at the launch, President Dr Joyce Banda reiterated that her government will continue with social programs such as the Mudzi Transformation Trust, Social Cash Transfer, Livestock and Motor Cycle Distribution to the youth among others, to improve people’s living standards.


She said programs like Mudzi Transformation Trust are making huge impacts as they are changing people’s lives.

President Banda said all these programs are contained in the PP’s Manifesto, as such, people should vote for them (PP) in the forthcoming tripartite elections.

During the campaign launch, President Banda outlined her government achievements during the two-year tenure such as consistent of fuel in the country’s filling stations and that of forex in the country’s commercial banks.

The PP campaign launch was spiced up with a parade of floats displaying the achievements of President Dr. Joyce Banda’s government among them, Safe motherhood intervention, Mudzi Transformation Trust and Livestock programs.
