“During today’s visit to Dalarna, we’ve followed in the footsteps of our forefathers! We started at Koppardalen in Avesta. The 17th century industrial area is a fascinating place. And there are also many different businesses here with great faith in the future. Iron is — and has been for many years — one of Sweden’s most important export assets.
“Another example of a journey following in the footsteps of our forefathers is Clas Ohlson in Insjön. This former mail-order company now has thousands of employees and is even opening stores outside Sweden. Seeing their enormous warehouse in Insjön was truly impressive.”
The King and Queen arrived at Stora Torget in Falun. County Governor Maria Norrfalk gave a speech. The Dala Sinfonietta choir performed.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted this year’s second official dinner, “Sweden Dinner”, at the Royal Palace. The royal family wants through Sweden dinner to be aware of people who have made significant contributions locally, regionally or nationally.
Invited guests were representatives of culture, business, education, sports and community organizations from Sweden’s 21 counties as well as all provincial governors. The approximately 200 guests were received and welcomed by the King and Queen, Crown Princess Couple and Prince Carl Philip at the Lovisa Ulrika room in the dining room.
The Dinner was held in the White Room.
