One person died in the mishap.
The 45-year-old actor was traveling in a limo bus with six other passengers on the New Jersey Turnpike in Cranbury when the accident happened at around 1 a.m.
He was traveling after performing a standup routine when the vehicle overturned, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams told FoxNews.
Williams added that James McNair, of Peekskille, New York, a passenger in the limo bus, died in the accident. Morgan and two other passengers got critically injured, while two occupants escaped unhurt.
Morgan was admitted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and was kept into the intensive care unit. Morgan’s publicist Lewis Kay said that the actor’s family is with him now and he is receiving excellent care.
“We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information comes available,” Kay added.
Williams said that two tractor-trailers were involved in the crash and it is likely that one of them the limo in which the actor was traveling. Kay preferred to remain silent on the extent of injuries suffered by Morgan.
Morgan performed at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Delaware on Friday. His scheduled appearance at the Fillmore Charlotte in North Carolina on Saturday has been canceled.
