Air India spokesman today announced that the national carrier has joined the Star Alliance group of carriers. The move is likely to boost the falling fortune of the state-run airline.
On Monday, Air India officials met the executives of Star Alliance and held final talks over completing the alliance.
Air India had started talks to join the international alliance in 2014 and it is now set to become the 27th member of Star Alliance group.
Air India spokesman added that the national carrier will complete all formalities related to the finalization of alliance by mid-July.
The membership of this group is going to help Air India immensely as it will be able to share routes with the other airlines to more than 1,200 destinations.
This will help the company to compete with other global players like Emirates and others.
