Delta-blues guitarist Doc MacLean makes musical house calls during two local shows this week.
He plays the Duncan Showroom Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. sharp, followed by a 7 p.m. concert on Stoney Hill Peninsula Aug. 23.
MacLean, who played the former Duncan Garage Showroom, will be hosted on Stoney Hill — during his 100-show North American Vagabond Tour — at the art-studio eco-retreat of artist Jeffrey Birkin.
“I first met Doc at a concert at the Duncan Garage showroom where I produced an iPad sketch of him and Big Dave MacLean in 2011,” said Birkin.
“Doc was pleased with the sketch, and has kept in touch over the years, so when
he offered to do a house concert at my art studio in Stony Hill, I leaped at the chance.”
Net concert proceeds will support keeping Doc on the road.
“I’m even throwing in a signed print of the sketch as a door prize,” said canvas and electronic painter Birkin.
The house concert is down several kilometres of gravel road on Stony Hill.
Either have a vehicle capable of traveling a gravel road, or car pool with someone who does, requested Birkin.
Seating and tickets are limited. RSVP your reserved spot. Tickets are $20 per person. Email jeffreybirkin@hotmail.com or call 250-715-8209.
Tickets to MacLean’s Thursday gig at the Showroom are $20, $18 advance at 250-597-1554.
