Robbers, armed with guns , took employees of a bank hostage in Dholpur and made off with Rs 3.86 lakh in broad day light on Monday. The robbers carried out the loot in such haste that they collected the booty within three minutes and escaped. The CCTVs installed in the bank clearly captured the entire incident. The police have launched a search for robbers on the basis of their appearance and dialect.
There was one customer at the Canara Bank Jagdish Chauraha branch when three robbers entered the bank at 11.14 am. Two of them had their faces covered with a piece of cloth. One took position at the entrance of the bank, while another rushed to the manager’s cabin and took him at gun point.
“The third who was not masked went to the cashier Ritu and asked her to hand over all the cash while pointing a gun at him. As soon as the robber got the cash, they snatched away mobile phones of all the employees, manager, the cashier and the customer. They then left by 11.17 pm,” said a senior police officer. The robbers didn’t forget to bolt the bank’s main entrance from outside.
The incident has highlighted the growing fearlessness among criminals in the area, as the bank is situated hardly 100 meters from the SP and district collector’s offices.
“There was no security guard deputed at the bank when the robbery took place. We have got the CCTV footages of the incident. There are some other clues on the basis of which a search has been launched for the robbers. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
