HIV-free initiative ropes in Joyce Banda

Malawi’s past immediate President Joyce Banda has been recruited into an influential group of former heads of state and eminent African personalities to help champion the creation of the so-called HIV Free Generation.

Banda’s spokesperson Tusekele Mwanyongo confirmed the development on Thursday saying the Chairperson of the group also Botswana former President Festus Mogae included her into the group.

“The Chairperson of the group believes the inclusion of Malawi former President Banda will significantly enrich the group,” he said.

He said the Chairperson also said, with Banda in their team, Africa stands a better chance to achieve an HIV-Free Generation using her invaluable experience.

The initiative mobilises and encourages African leaders and global policy makers to renew and continuously intensify the fight against HIV and Aids.
