The officials had been suspended for allegedly leaking some documents related to Irani’s undergraduate admission and admit card which led to a massive political row over the BJP’s leader educational qualifications.
In a post on microblogging site Twitter, she said, “Since Delhi University is an autonomous institution, I have put forth my personal appeal to the Vice Chancellor to reinstate the officials”.
Irani, who is a Rajya Sabha MP, added that in public life one should be open to scrutiny and criticism and she is ready for that.
It is learned that five people were from University’s School of Open Learning (SOL) were suspended on the suspicion that they leaked some confidential documents related to Irani?s qualification.
The five suspended include a Section Officer and four officials below him in hierarchy. The university has also started an inquiry against these five men.
Meanwhile, the Congress slammed Narendra Modi government over the suspension of the officials.
“5 officials of Delhi University suspended for leaking HRD Minster’s educational qualification details!Does this Govt believe in transparency,” party general secretary Digvijay Singh tweeted.
He added: “ACHHE DIN AA GAYE HEIN. Would anyone stand up for the suspended officials of DU ?”
