Tiger Mountain retains China box office lead


The 3D reworking of Qu Bo’s novel Tracks In The Snowy Forest pulled in 8.6 million admissions in the week Dec 29-Jan 4, according to EntGroup figures, and has so far grossed a cumulative $109.94m.


Gu Changwei’s romantic drama Love On The Cloud also held up strongly in its second week, grossing a further $18.97m for a cume of $42.18m and second place in the chart.

Wanda Media’s animation One Hundred Thousand Bad Jokes came in third with $13.3m over five days.

Jiang Wen’s Gone With The Bullets fell to fourth place with a weekly take of $6.54m, pushing its cume to $81.3m.

The first US studio release of the year, Fox’s Night At The Museum 3, grossed $4.6m on its opening day (Jan 4) and took fifth place in the chart.

Three new releases, which all opened on Dec 31, occupied the next three positions in the chart: Fan Jianhui’s Who Is Under Cover grossed $4.56m; South African animation Khumba took $4.22m and local horror Bloody Doll grossed $2.92m in five days.

Rounding out the chart were Canada-Korean animation The Nut Job, which took $2.41m in the week and has grossed $4.96m after 10 days, and animation Brave Rabbit 2: Crazy Circus, which grossed $1.79m for a cume of $2.9m.
