‘Loving Vincent’ is being produced by Oscar award-winning producer Hugh Welchman and depicts the story of Van Gogh’s death.
Vincent Van Gogh — the famous post-impressionist painter of the 20th century, now has an India connection. Oscar-winning British producer Hugh Welchman is making a film called ‘Loving Vincent’ that depicts the story of Van Gogh’s death, and of the 100 artists who have been chosen to leave a mark on the world’s first feature-length painted animation, is a woman from Bhopal. Shuchi Muley is one of the 100 artists wielding brushes to leave a mark on the world’s first feature-length painted animation on painter Vincent Van Gogh.
Muley was reportedly selected from thousands of painters across the world to be a part of the film. The 34-year-old, however, is not a painter by profession. Previously working in a Bengaluru software firm, she reportedly left her job to dedicate herself to her love for painting.
According to a Times of India report, she came across the movie trailer of ‘Loving Vincent’ on Facebook, some time after she had trained herself at prominent art studios in San Francisco and Paris in the nuances of art.
Muley underwent a rigorous three-day test in Poland, followed by two weeks of learning painting and other techniques. Talking to TOI, Muley said the movie is now being painted one scene at a time, coming to look like a flip book. The artists have all made sure that they stick to the Van Gogh genre to avoid discrepancies.
The film is being painted at a Gdansk studio in Poland and is composed of 62,000 oil frames.
