Zambia’s Zone Fam excited to perform in Malawi

Zambia’s number one rap group, Zone Fam, is very excited about their Malawi tour. The crew is billed to perform at the Lake of Stars (LOS) art festival in Mangochi in September.

The award-winning group’s manager, Duncan Sodala, in an interview Tuesday morning, said the Lusaka-based guys were looking forward to their first ever performance in Malawi.

“Zone Fam are looking forward to coming to Malawi for the first time at the Lake Of Stars, which will be our first festival outing” said Sodala, speaking from Lusaka.

“We have heard a lot of great things about Malawi from the people, to the food and even music so we are looking forward to discovering more while we are there, [we]can’t wait,” he added.

The four-member group has previously worked with Malawian rapper, Tay Grin, featuring him on their 2013 song called “Sinjonjo”.

According to their manager, Zone Fam, comprising Dope G, Jay Rox, Yung Verbal and Thugga, were looking forward to meeting and performing alongside other Malawian artists.

“We are looking forward to sharing our stage performance, and hopefully we shall leave an impression with our Malawian brothers and sisters,” said Sodala, who also promised their Malawian fans a performance with Tay Grin at the LOS.

“Tay Grin was here a few weeks ago and we shared a stage at the Lusaka Carnival and the fans can definitely expect to see us together at the Lake of Stars.”

Zone Fam, which is signed to Zambia’s Taurus Musik, is famed in the region mostly for their song “Contolola”, another 2013 release. They are among the top artists whose music videos enjoy airplay on Channel O and MTV Base.

They just released a new single titled “Ntete” off their second album called “Bar Code” which is on the way.
